28.01.2014 Youth Banks Contribute to Development of Issyk-Kul Region

A conference was held on January 24-26, 2014, at the Issyk-Kul Aurora health resort under the project “Youth Banks in the Issyk-Kul Region” currently implemented by Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia with the financial support of Kumtor Company.

17.01.2014 Detailed requirements

1 – Network Cabling A vendor is required to provide services for supply and install IT network cabling (Cat5e/Cat6) Locations may include- Bishkek / Kumtor Mine Site / Balykchy / Karakol / Others All cabling must be installed to defined ISO/IEEE standards with testing results supplied. Supply of all materials preferred with defined lead times. Agreed table of rates required. Projects will be on demand and will be quoted per project. Projects may range from single connections to several hundred connections. Service Level Agreements required. Photographic evidence of previous installations would be a benefit. 2 – Fiber Optic Cabling A vendor is required to install / repair Fibre Optic network cabling. Locations may include – Bishkek / Kumtor Mine Site / Balykchy / Karakol / Others Supply of all materials preferred with defined lead times. Agreed table of rates required. Projects will be on demand and will be quoted per project. Service Level Agreements required. Repair response times required. All cabling to be to defined ISO/IEEE standards with certification results supplied. 3 – Network Infrastructure A vendor is required to maintain / configure network equipment & infrastructure. 14.01.2014 2013 Preliminary Operating Results and 2014 Guidance

Centerra Gold Inc. (Centerra) and Kumtor Gold Company report that Gold production at the Kumtor mine was – 600,402 ounces* or 18,674.6 kg for the full year 2013; – 348,130 ounces or approximately 10,828.1 kg in the fourth quarter of 2013.

26.12.2013 Kumtor helps to Issyk-Kul region residents with coal

The Company purchased about 1,000 tonnes of coal to support villagers during the heating season. After the District Committee session, held in the beginning of December, 2013, the Company has decided to provide help to vulnerable social groups from Balykchy city, Djety-Oguz, and Ton regions: 200 tonnes will be distributed among residents of Balykchy, villagers of both region will get 400 tonnes each. Coal delivery to the families of people in need will begin next week.

The State Agency for Environment Protection and Forestry appealed to the Bishkek Inter-District Court claiming to oblige the Canadian gold miner to pay KGS 15 billion. This is the cost of environmental damage caused by Kumtor for 16 years, according to the estimates of environmentalists.

Today, 28th of November 2013 at 12:30 pm, anonymous people stopped company vehicle with 17 employees directing to Kumtor site. People armed with fire guns on motor vehicles followed company car from Saruu village to Chychkan village

28.11.2013 Negotiation process and courts of arbitration

The Government is preparing a new agreement on Kumtor… It is hard to say whether the Canadian party approves this document or not. Centerra Gold is not going to cede more than 50%. But the Parliament still holds its ground – not less than 67%… the Government should take drastic measures, which mean denunciation or nationalization of Kumtor. However, in this case the Republic will face protracted litigations, and the country’s President urges deputies to make a rational decision on the budget-making enterprise of Kyrgyzstan. … The international proceeding at the suit of Kazakhstani company Visor will start in the Netherlands in a couple of weeks. Kyrgyzstan will be the respondent party. The amount of claim is $400 million. Canadian Stans Energy company is also trying to win back its losses. The amount of claim exceeds $100 million for the expropriation of Kutessay-2 deposit. These precedents are not the first and isolated cases when investors protect their rights in the international courts of arbitration. And, alas, Kyrgyzstan is not always successful. 19.11.2013 Ayil Bank Opened Kumtor-Chakan Line of Microcredit to Support Rural Population of Kyrgyzstan

Considering the importance of the continued efforts aimed at supporting rural population, the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, as part of Kumtor Gold Company’s sponsorship optimization program, has selected Ayil Bank JSC as an agent entrusted to extend easy microloans to rural population through a special lending product, Kumtor-Chakan. The said decision is based on Ayil Bank’s years of experience in loan provision for village residents and taken with due account for the Bank’s wide regional network, which makes it possible to provide as many loans and other banking services countrywide as possible. Kumtor Gold Company’s sponsorship which is to be transferred by Ala-Too Finance Microcredit Agency to Ayil Bank JSC is estimated at approximately 808 mln soms. A further 70 mln soms in the existing loan portfolio of the regional microcredit agencies is supposed to be transferred at a later date. Upon receiving the full amount of assets (as cash and loan portfolio), the Bank is planning to use Kumtor Gold Company’s contribution for extending easy loans, approximately 100 mln soms per month.
