Waste paper was exchanged for office supplies in Karakol

Event titled “Exchange of waste paper for office supplies” took place in Karakol. The one of the organizers of the action, Ibrahim Almazbekov, reported this.
The author of the project was activist of Karakol city Nurkyz Dogturbekova. The event took place in the city park named after Pushkin. Everyone, who brought waste paper for exchange received a set of office suppliers, consisting of a notepad, pens, t-shirt, eco bag with “I love Karakol” logo.
Around 500 kg of waste paper (newspapers, books, magazines, etc.) were collected during the event.
According to organizers, they will sell part of the waste paper and buy soap and cleaning detergents for one of the orphanage houses. Textbooks, found among the paper will be handled to educational institutions of the city. Fiction books will be given to libraries.
At the end of the event, activists cleaned up the city park named after Pushkin.
The action of exchanging waste paper for office supplies was held in frames of Youth Banks Project, implemented by Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia, with the financial support from Kumtor Company.
