The Kumtor Gold Company CJSC (KGC) begins to sum up the first preliminary results of its performance in 2021.

Mining quantities at the Kumtor mine for 11 months of 2021 comprised 185.6 million tons, which is more than double than the same performance indicator reached in 2020.

During the period of Temporary External Management at KGC, mining of ice decreased by 60% compared to 2020. Below is a chart showing the quantities of ice mined at the Kumtor mine for 2012-2021.

All mining operations at the mine are performed in compliance with safety regulations. In order to improve the safety of mining operations in terms of waste rock placement, it was decided to purchase two additional radars for continuous monitoring of waste dumps located in the Central and Kichi-Sarytor valleys.

A complete and updated information on the results of production and financial activities in accordance with global practice will be published in a press release in early 2022.

Tengiz Bolturuk, Temporary External Manager of KGC, commented on the preliminary results of 2021: “Despite all the difficulties encountered during the transition to External Management and the obstacles posed by Centerra, KGC team successfully fulfilled their objectives. The Kumtor mine operates in a stable, uninterrupted, and regular manner. All taxes and mandatory payments to the budget are paid on time and in full.”
