Kumtor Gold Company Supports the World Congress of Writers in Kyrgyzstan

The first event of series of actions to mark the 80th World Congress of Writers, held in Bishkek in September- October 2014, will take place today at 4 pm.
The event will be held near the monument to the national akyn Toktogul Satylganov (next to the Kyrgyz State Opera and Ballet Theatre). Popular singers and theatre artists, as well as the President of the Central-Asian Writers Club Dalmira Tolepbergenova will introduce the purpose of the World Congress of Writers in Kyrgyzstan.

Similar events are planned to be organized on a monthly basis prior to the start of the Congress, which is scheduled for September (of this year) and will be dedicated to the memory of Chingiz Aitmatov. Delegates to the 80th anniversary Congress are writers, poets, publishers and journalists from 104 countries.

PEN International – an international non-governmental organization that unites professional writers, poets and journalists working in various literary genres. PEN (an abbreviation of “poet”, “essayist”, “novelist”, “PEN”). The organization’s goal is to promote friendship and intellectual co-operation among writers everywhere. The other purpose of PEN is in development of the practice of literary translation. The organization supports imprisoned writers who face difficulties promoting their works.
