The 17th annual all-around mine-rescue competition took place at the training facility of the State Rescue Training Center under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic on October 7, 2017. The mine-rescue competitions are held annually at the premises of the State Rescue Training Center under the Ministry of Emergency Situations with the organizational support of Kumtor Gold Company.
This year, five teams have taken part in the competition and showed their practical skills and abilities: the team of Kyrgyzaltyn, the rescue team of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic and three teams of Kumtor Gold Company – Kumtor-2, Kumtor-3 and the team of KGC Marshalling Yard in Balykchy.
The competition included rescue operations at a multi-storey facility, evacuation of injured persons from the chemical contamination area and elimination of a hotbed of chemical contamination. The main goal of the competition is to check the practical skills of holding search and rescue operations, share best practices for using lifesaving equipment and find out more about the advanced methods of carrying out search and rescue operations.
The first place, as in the previous year, was won by the professional rescue team of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic. The second place was taken by Kumtor-3 and the third one – by Kumtor-2 rescue teams. Following the results of the competition, the winning teams have been awarded cups and pennants, and all the participants received memorable gifts.
Kumtor rescuers have once again successfully proved themselves as high-class specialists, who are always ready to come to the rescue in case of emergency. Recall that all three mine-rescue teams of Kumtor Gold Company consist of volunteers who completed special training courses at the State Rescue Training Center and regularly, on a weekly basis, undergo further theoretical and practical training.
