Kumtor Employees Lend Another Help to Orphanage in Voyenno-Antonovka

published: 31 July 2017

Employees of the Kumtor mine and KGC Bishkek office lent another help to the orphanage in Voyenno-Antonovka village. Employees of almost all departments of the mine and head office quickly responded to the fundraising initiative to purchase sports shoes for 120 children living in this childcare center. They have raised about KGS 98,000 and purchased shoes suitable for sports and active lifestyle for children, who due to various social reasons have to grow outside their families. At the time of gifts delivery, the majority of children were at summer camps and health resorts, therefore only 30 kids got the new outfit right away. The remaining 90 pairs of sports shoes are waiting for the return of the children.

This initiative is a follow-up of the previous event, when Kumtor Ambassadors organized and fully equipped the table tennis unit in this childcare center. Participants of the event noticed that children did not have suitable sport shoes and solved this issue. Director of Voyenno-Antonovka orphanage Askar Masylov expressed gratitude to sponsors for kind-heartedness and generosity and promised to make sure that every absent kid received his pair of shoes.

Since the amount collected was more than sufficient, the rest of the money will be used to help another orphanage.

Employees of all departments take an active part in the corporate volunteer program “Ambassadors of Kumtor” and lend support to many children’s institutions of the country on a regular basis.
