Karagat + Project participants received the first nurslings of new currant and raspberry varieties from Poland last Friday in Barskoon, Jety Oguz district.

The nurslings were distributed among vocational schools, nursery gardens and NGOs active in the villages of Barskoon, Tiup, Ananyevo, Bokonbaevo, Chelpek, Kyzyl-Suu, Toru-Aigyr and the city of Cholpon Ata – more than 5,000 nurslings, all in all.

The 3-year Karagat +project is implemented by AVEP public foundation with the financial support of Kumtor. Launched last April, the Karagat + Project is designed to boost economic development of local communities and expand the fruit-and-berry market potential. The Project’s target area is primarily the south coast of the Issyk-Kul region.
