Kumtor Company Supported Action of Green Foundation

Trees were planted in the grounds of high school No. 91 located in Bishkek’s neighborhood of Kara-Jigach on April 3, 2015, in what was announced as a joint action of the Green Foundation and International Public Fund “Initiative of Roza Otunbayeva.”This action was supported by the Bishkek City Hall, Education Department under the Bishkek City Hall, Kumtor Gold Company and Aga Khan Development Network.
Bishkek high schools Nos. 91, 83, 78, 72, 51 and 2 were selected as pilot schools where more than 1,000 seedlings are supposed to be planted on April 3-4, 2015. The purpose of the action is to create a favorable microclimate in school areas, tree planting being among compulsory components of the school land improvement program.

The Green Foundation NGO was founded in 2012 on the initiative of the Kyrgyz Investment&Credit Bank (KICB) for purposes of planting trees in urban areas and improving living conditions in Kyrgyzstan. More than 1,600 trees have been planted under the program of KICB and its partners in Bishkek over the past three years. More information about the Green Foundation is available here.
