Kumtor Operating Company has funded the publication of children's books “Chiy Kuurchak”A presentation of a children’s book “Chiy Kuurchak” was held today, on April 2, 2012, on the International Day of Children’s Book, in the National Library for Children and Youth, named after K.Bayalinov. 3600 copies of a colorful book in Kyrgyz and Russian languages written for preschool and primary school age children, was published with the support of Kumtor Operating Company.

At the meeting with young readers, book author, children’s writer Bek Jyldyz, told about the history of books, love, friendship, and national traditions of the Kyrgyz people. A master class was devoted to the revival of a forgotten folk tradition – simple and cute handmade doll. Since ancient times, children of almost all people made these kinds of toys from available materials. As part of the national culture, the doll maintains its identity and features of Kyrgyz people. This is its main value and originality.

“The main motive of our company’s participation in this project was the understanding of the need to develop children’s interest in reading, native language and national traditions of the Kyrgyz people. And I hope that for young readers, this book is not only a great gift, but also a great opportunity to get acquainted with the national art”, – said the President of Kumtor Operating Company, Michael Fisher, at the presentation of the book

On the eve the Company handed over 2000 books in Kyrgyz to the Children’s Library Fund of the Republic. The remaining part will be transferred to children libraries of the Issyk-Kul region.
