Kumtor Operating Company Takes Part in the Thematic Exhibition “Mining – 2011”

A National Thematic Exhibition, Mining – 2011, was held at the Exhibition Center of the KR National Academy of Science on September 27-28, 2011.

The exhibition has demonstrated the current state of intellectual and innovative activities in the mining sector of Kyrgyzstan. It has displayed goods produced by industrial enterprises and scientific organizations of the Kyrgyz Republic, samples of designs, service models, experimental stands, etc.

KOC’s stand has presented its latest innovations, including “Modular”, an improved system of round-the-clock control of mining equipment and open-pit operations; transition to a more effective coal type in gold production; introduction of automatic regulation of metallurgical parameters for optimization of efficiency of the grinding and flotation circuits in the gold mill; optimization of equipment maintenance periodicity, etc.

The exhibition program included a round-table discussion that gathered mining experts from various regions of Kyrgyzstan. KOC representatives made two presentations. Thus, Andrey Shambunin, Chief Geomechanic, KOC, described a new method of tunneling and roof lining now used by the Kumtor mine underground while Kanykbek Kazybekov, Coordinator of Open-Pit Engineering Operations, dwelt on steps taken to renew the Company’s mining fleet and improvements made to dump truck bodies.

Participating in the exhibition were more than ten enterprises and organizations, which displayed their designs and ideas in the field of geology and mining. In recognition of active participation in the exhibition, demonstration of innovations and contribution to innovative efforts, Kumtor Operating Company received the Award of the Industrial Park of the KR National Academy of Science.
