The Cyanide Code is recognized as international best practice and helps protect human health and reduce the potential for environmental impacts. Companies that become signatories to the Cyanide Code must have their operations audited by an independent third party every 3 years to demonstrate compliance.
Kumtor integrates the Cyanide Code principles and standards of practice into its Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
As at June 2019, the Cyanide Code had approximately 186 signatories (members). This includes Centerra Gold among the 47 signatory gold mining companies.
