Centerra Reports Kumtor Mine Receives 2016 Emissions and Discharge Permits

Toronto, Canada, June 23, 2016: Centerra Gold Inc. (TSX: CG) reports that its Kumtor operation, located in the Kyrgyz Republic, has received its 2016 maximum allowable emissions (“MAE”) permit from the Kyrgyz Republic State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry (“SAEPF”).

The MAE permit is valid until December 31, 2016 and is the first new MAE permit issued by SAEPF to Kumtor since 2014. Prior to this, the operation relied on periodic extensions of its 2014 MAE permit from SAEPF for continuous operations.

In addition, the Kumtor operation also received approval from SAEPF for its 2016 maximum allowable discharge (“MAD”) permit which allows for discharge of treated effluent.

The environmental expertise (approval) of Kumtor’s 2016 mine plan is expected to be received before June 30. With the issuance of the MAE and MAD permits and the receipt of the environmental expertise before June 30, Kumtor will have the necessary permits and approvals in place for continuous operations throughout the second half of 2016.
