Kumtor’s Employee Development & Administration Department in coordination with the Sustainable Development Department organized Safety and Road Traffic Rules training, for children on November 3, 2017, in the Bishkek Guesthouse, as part of Work Safe Home Safe Program. The purpose of the event is to promote the importance of awareness and observance of road traffic rules and safety in children.
The event was opened with a brief welcoming address by Kumtor President Daniel Desjardins. For the children’s convenience, a colorful play-based presentation was prepared to demonstrate basic road traffic rules and the chance to use the Stop Conversation by children in their everyday life. In addition, the training included a series of contests, educational cartoons, and, finally, sweet treats for small participants.
Gifts for the children were provided by Sustainable Development Department. Every training participant was given a backpack carrying reflectors as well as a complete set of outerwear reflective stickers. Also, a special issue of the In Touch Newsletter was issued for the event where road traffic rules observance was presented in the comic strip.
The event was continued on November 4, 2017, in the Bishkek Patrol Police Department where KGC Media Relations Department organized a practical traffic rules awareness training for children. In a special room equipped with various road signs and traffic lights, the children spent 90 minutes of their weekend leisure to acquire helpful skills of safe movement around the city.
Kumtor’s Employee Development & Administration Department in close cooperation with the Sustainable Development Department is planning a series of similar trainings for schoolchildren in Jety-Oguz and Ton districts, Issyk-Kul province.
