In connection with the unfortunate incident that took place at the Kumtor Mine on the New Year Eve, Kumtor Gold Company considers it necessary to inform as follows.

Michael McFeat, a citizen of Great Britain, the author of a social media posting that has offended Kumtor employees and other Kyrgyz citizens, is not an employee of Kumtor. He was a non-managerial employee of a contracting organization that performs a certain type of work for Kumtor under a contract.

Immediately on learning of the posting, Kumtor management informed the management of the contracting company about the improper behavior of their employee and immediately removed Mr. McFeat from his position and arranged for him to be sent down from the mine site and transported to Bishkek. Karakol city court ordered to deport Mr. McFeat and on 5 of January this year he left the Kyrgyz Republic.

By the Order of the Company President, a commission was established to investigate facts of the incident. The company does not tolerate behaviour by any employee or contractor that is insensitive to any cultural or national group.

Kumtor Mine is working in normal mode.
